World Social Forum - 2003

PROVISIONAL SCHEDULE OF WORLD MARCH OF WOMEN ACTIVITIES

Please note that this list is not complete.  Included here are the
activities organized by the World March of Women; the  places and events where women from the March will intervene are not listed. What  is more, many other activities are being organized and some of the information (including time and place) has yet to be confirmed. The women from the March in  Brazil have put out a more complete, detailed document that will be handed out  at the meeting on January 23.

Thursday, January 23
1:00 p.m.: Welcome for the  women from the World March of Women. This will
be a briefing on the weekís  activities (Place: Usina do GasÙmetro,  Jo"o
Goulart Avenue)
- Immediately after the briefing (at 3:00 p.m.), we  will join the
contingent from the Youth Camp and the gay and lesbian contingent  to meet
up with the big opening demonstration (which will begin at 5:00  p.m.)

Friday, January 24
- Panel debate on gender  equality (morning)
- Seminar on feminist alternatives for another economy  (afternoon)
- Workshop on feminism and a new political generation (2:00 p.m.  at the
Youth Camp)

Saturday, January 25

Sunday, January  26
- Workshop on the image of women and sexism in the media (morning at  the
Youth Camp)

Monday, January 27
- Panel debate on theme II,  ìPrinciples and values, human rights,
diversity and equalityî (the World March  of Women is the coordinator for
this theme)
- Seminar on the fight against  the commodification of womenís bodies and
lives
- Workshop on world  actions by the World March of Women in 2005

Tuesday, January 28

Wednesday, January  29
- Meeting of World March of Women Follow-up Committee (Place: SEMAP, Rua
Lima e Silva, 280,  centro. Porto Alegre)
*Please note that the representatives of the World  March of Women national
coordinating bodies are invited to attend a meeting to  report on the World
Social Forum on Wednesday morning (9:00-12:00).  They may also attend the
other parts of  the Follow-up Committee meeting as observers, if they wish.


Miscellaneous:
*  The contact point during the Forum (a place where you can leave messages, sell  and distribute the materials of World March of Women organizations in different  countries, etc.) will be the World March of Women stand: Cais do Porto, Av.  Mau·, 501, Stand # C46-49.
- So don't forget to bring the March materials  >from your country to distribute and your banners for the various marches and  demonstrations.
