Women
are still being incriminated for abortion in Portugal.
17
women were incriminated for abortion in 2002 because the Portuguese
law doesn't allow the right to choose when women decide to interrupt
their pregnancy.
Portugal,
Ireland and Poland are the three European countries where women have
not yet the right to decide about their bodies and birth control,
since they are considered as minor people without rights and unable
to take decisions.
In
1998, there was a referendum in Portugal. Only 40% of the electors
voted. The movement against abortion won by a short difference.
At
this moment a movement for a new referendum was created but the
right wing in the government doesn't
want this referendum.
We
appeal to international solidarity.

our site to support the struggle for a new referendum in
Portugal.
